Trump lashes out at Democratic Party, presidential opponents at Wisconsin rally

US President Donald Trump has used a massive rally in the Midwestern state of Wisconsin to brag about a strong US economy and lash out at his Democratic presidential opponents who have pledged to prevent his re-election next year.

Trump claimed in the Green Bay rally on Saturday night that the US economic growth stood at 3.2 percent in the first quarter. He also boasted of gains in employment and reductions in family poverty in the country even though the applause from the crowd was quieter than what he would have preferred.

The US president rebuked the self-described socialism of the Democratic Party and criticized the whole party as “radical.”

“They should change that to the Radical Left Democrat Party,” Trump said. “Its crazy whats going on with them. Oh, do I look forward to running against them."

Trump, in contrast, spoke highly of his own party and said, "the Republican Party is the party of all Americans. And common sense.”

A majority of Americans have an unfavorable view of President Donald Trump and believe that the country is divided among racial, ethnic and political lines, a new poll shows

During the Saturday night rally, the American head of state repeated his controversial nicknames "Sleepy Joe" Biden and "Crazy Bernie" for two of the leading Democratic presidential contenders former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

The president also mocked Senator Elizabeth Warren, one of his firm critics, mockingly saying that her candidacy was already over.

Trump repeatedly slammed Warren for her claims to Native American ancestry, sarcastically calling her "Pocahontas."

Warren took a DNA test last year to prove that she was indeed a Native American. The results showed that Warren had a Native American ancestor from between six to 10 generations ago, which led to more ridicule from Trump.

"Pocahontas she’s finished, she’s out. She’s gone. When it was found that I had more Indian blood in me than she did, then it was determined I had none, but I still had more, that was the end of her 32 year scam," Trump said.

The US Republican president also warned his supporters that Democrats would take away their guns, promised anew to build a wall along the US southern border with Mexico and pledged to come up with a plan for health care after the 2020 election.

Trump jokingly fires Sarah Sanders

Trump, who skipped the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner to hold the rally, called White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to the stage to say a few words, a move welcomed by the cheering crowd.

"Last year this night I was at a slightly different event, not quite the best welcome. So this is an amazing honor. Im so proud to work for the president," Sanders said after taking the stage, making a jab at last years WHCA dinner where comedian Michelle Wolf lampooned her and sparked backlash by making fun of her appearance.

The press secretary went on to praise Trump for this economic and military policy, and swiped at special counsel Robert Muellers final report on the alleged ties between the presidents campaign and Russia.

"They said there was collusion and there wasnt. Theyve questioned him at every step and hes proven them wrong every time because of you," she said.

The brief appearance was followed by more applause for Sanders, prompting Trump to joke that Sanders "is becoming too popular.”

"She doesnt get it. She doesnt understand me after all these years. Shes becoming too popular, Sarah, Im jealous. Youre fired!" Trump said, then adding, "shes great."

Sanders has become one of the mainstays of the current administration in Washington despite a rapid amount of turnover at the highest levels.

Democrats in the US House of Representatives have been trying to trigger Trumps impeachment process based on Muellers findings. However, the presidents strong poll numbers since the release of the report show that such moves would not go down well with the American public.
